Your answers should be complete, but concise. Please use essay format for
your answers. Supporting your answers using citations is strongly
encouraged. Re-read your answers if time allows as a final check. |

1. What makes a frog a frog and not a salamander? Or if you prefer
differentiate between Caudata and Anura. |

2. What makes a lizard not a snake? Then follow-up in your answer by
providing an argument which defines why or why not a snake is a lizard. |

3. Provide a time-line with major points for reptile evolution.
Include in your answer major groups, their approximate arrival and departure
dates, and the extant diversity to which they gave rise. |

4. Your professor claims to have discovered a new anuran in Texas.
Provide a fairly detailed program to investigate the taxonomic status of the
purported new amphibian, a field program to investigate its life history, and
any other work you would propose as important to defining this animal for
science. You may use a non-strictly essay format for this final question.
